August 27th Eco Trekking at the Whitewater Center 1 PM
Next Saturday, August 27th will be our last activity to qualify your scout for the Summertime Pack Award. If you have not yet fulfilled your August activity, now is your chance!
We will be participating in Eco Trekking at the US National Whitewater Facility. Eco Trekking is similar to Geo Caching but with an educational twist. The facility is located at 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC. For website directions please visit http://usnwc.org/directions/ Parking is $5 per vehicle.
We will meet at the “Trail Center” at 1 PM (Link to the map of the facility http://usnwc.org/plan-a-visit/facility-map/ ) where we will split up into groups. Each GPS device costs $25 and is programmed with the coordinates for each cache. GPS devices can be shared among a group. This activity should take 2-3 hours.
Please remember to bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and comfortable shoes. The Whitewater Center has a restaurant and market if you plan to have lunch or dinner onsite.
