We learned that WRHI was South Carolina Broadcasters Association Radio Station of the Year again in 2009.

The scouts were able to see how today’s modern radio stations operate from the equipment to the staff. In some cases the programming is done live or done via feed from another source like network news.

The scouts were introduced to afternoon reporter/anchor Bobby Rosinski as he reviewed a video feed of the Rock Hill City council meeting for news. Understanding how the media like a radio station receives and reports the news was part of the scouts objective to help earn what is called the communicator Webelos pin.

At the end of the tour, each scout had chance to record a tag line for the country station saying….. “Interstate 107, Today’s Best Country!”.

The Lighting Den wants to thank owners Alan Miller and Manning Kimmel, staff, and of course Mario for allowing us the opportunity to visit your award winning radio station.

Please see some of the scouts comments below about their radio station visit.

It was really cool to see the inside of a radio station and see how they make announcements.
We had a lot of fun. Thank you for showing us around. - Jonathan Patyk.

When we went to the radio station, Ii thought it was very cool. while we where in the room that had all of the that equipment, it was kind of confusing. the best part of the tour was when we got to record us saying ” today’s best county ”! it was very cool and I’m very glad I got to go. – Wolfgang Redman.

I learned a lot about Am/Fm radio. I also saw that it takes a lot of equipment to put together a station, I thought that was really cool. Mario was very nice. – Colin Szatkowski.

I thought the trip to the radio station was awesome!!! Even though some of the equipment was confusing. we learned so much about the radio stations. Mario even let us record something using the microphone! Going there inspired me to try to be a DJ for a radio station, thank you Interstate 107! – Camden Miller.

Adult volunteer help is required to put on a successful camp for the Scouts. For every 5 Scouts that our Pack sends to camp the Pack must provide 1 adult volunteer. Volunteers can be for the program staff or assigned to a group of Scouts (Den) that guides them throughout the day. For volunteers with young children a tot-lot for children 3 and up (and potty trained) will be provided, at no cost, that allows the kids to also participate in their own activities.

A registration is required for all personnel that will be at camp

Youth protection training is required for all personnel working at camp and must have been completed since January 1st, 2010. An online course is available.

Additional training for camp volunteers will also be provided

Adult volunteers and staff do not pay for registration

Adult volunteers that volunteer for the full week will have their Scout attend camp for free. (1 free Scout per family)

Volunteers from each pack will be assigned as Den leaders and assistants unless you commit early and request a staff position. All staff applicants should be available to work all week if possible; some exceptions may apply depending on situation.

Pack 250 Families,

York District Summer Cub Scout Day Camp is scheduled for June 21 – 25. Cost is $75.00 per Scout and is open to rising 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders.

The camp location will be Anne Springs Greenway on June 21-24 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and the Baxter YMCA on June 25th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Registration forms have been mailed by the district, but I’ve also attached the forms to this email. Please note that both registration forms must be completed to cover the Anne Springs Greenway and Baxter YMCA locations.

The Pack will turn in registration forms and fees as a group. Please have the forms and fees to John Scales or your Den Leader by May 18th.

· A registration is required for all personnel that will be at camp
· Youth protection training is required for all personnel working at camp and must have been completed since January 1st, 2010. An online course is available.
· Additional training for camp volunteers will also be provided
· Adult volunteers and staff do not pay for registration
· Adult volunteers that volunteer for the full week will have their Scout attend camp for free. (1 free Scout per family)

Volunteers from each pack will be assigned as Den leaders and assistants unless you commit early and request a staff position. All staff applicants should be available to work all week if possible; some exceptions may apply depending on situation.

Staff positions include:

· Crafts
· Nature
· Sports
· Archery
· BB’s
· Fishing
· Tot-Lot
