<p>This is a reminder about Registration for Cub Scout Day Camp . The deadline for submitting forms to the pack is this Tuesday, May 15th during the Rocket Launch. All checks should be payable to Palmetto Council (no cash will be accepted). You may turn in your medical forms with your registration or you will have the opportunity to submit those prior to the first day of camp at the &#8220;open house&#8221; when you pick up your scout&#8217;s t-shirt and day pack. But, medical forms are required prior to the first day of camp.</p>
<p>The Pack is required to have one volunteer for every 5 scouts attending. Please mark on your form if you plan to be a volunteer and the days (times) you can volunteer. If for some reason you submitted your forms directly to the Council, please email me with that information and indicate whether or not you will be volunteering.</p>
<p>If you will not be attending the Rocket Launch on the 15th, please mail (or drop-off) your registration to 545 Medora Lane, Fort Mill, SC 29708.</p>

<p>Our next Pack event is the Rocket Launch on Tuesday, May 15th, 7 pm at Grace Presbyterian Church. We will meet in the field in front of the church. Den Leaders will be provided the engines that night. As a reminder, snip the top of the parachute to create an opening. This will keep the rocket from drifting too far. Also, it is a good idea to write your scout&#8217;s name on the rocket. This will help return the rocket to the owner. Each scout should have the opportunity to shoot off his rocket twice.</p>
<p>Since all scouts have recently advanced in rank, uniforms are NOT necessary for this event. Pack T-shirts will work great.</p>
<p>The Pack will provide Ice Cream to everyone in attendance (Scouts, Siblings, and Parents). Bruesters will be on site serving up some of their tasty treats!</p>
<p>The deadline for submitting Cub Scout Day Camp Forms to the pack is 5/15. Turn your forms into Teresa at the Rocket Launch. A separate email will be sent with more details.<br />

<p>Download the schedule of events Below as well as a check list for what to bring. A Hot Dog/Hamburger Lunch on Saturday is provided by the Pack. All other meals you will need to bring or coordinate with your den.</p>
<p>Graduation Campout is an important experience for each scout as it is their official graduation to their next rank.  Each scout in attendance will receive a gift from the pack that is specific for their new rank.  The Saturday night ceremony is conducted by a campfire and includes fun activities such as scouts receiving their advancements, skits performed by dens and the current Bear dens advancing to Webelos will also announce their new Den names.  You definitely do not want your scout to miss their Graduation Campout experience!</p>
<p>If you have not responded that you plan to attend, please respond to this email with the option (see previous email at the bottom of this one) and number attending. We want to make sure everyone is counted so that we can accurately prepare for the lunch and campsites. If your plans have changed since your original response, please let me know.</p>
<p>The Lake Ampitheater that we had planned to use for the graduation ceremony was recently sodded and is now not available for use. We will be using a different Ampitheater/Stage area that does not have seating. Please bring a lawn chair and/or blanket for your families seating at the graduation on Saturday evening.</p>
<p>Camp Belk is a new location for our pack. The estimated travel time from Fort Mill is 40 minutes and directions can be found on their website. Directions to the campsite and an area map can be found on the website <a href="http://www.campgrimes.org/belk" target="_blank">www.campgrimes.org/belk</a></p>

<p>Due to conflicts at our selected location the Pack’s Spring Sports Belt Loop University is being rescheduled to Friday, April 27th at Grace Presbyterian Church from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.</p>
<p>Scouts will be able to work on two Sports Belt Loop classes that night.</p>
<p>Please complete the below information and return it by 4/20 so final preparations can be completed. Please rank the Belt Loops in order of interest (1 is most interested to 4 is least interested). Participating Scouts will be grouped by Den when assigned to the classes and we’ll use the rankings to fill classes based on availability.</p>

<p>So you have an idea of what will be covered for each Belt Loop, here are the requirements that will be worked on the 27th:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Physical Fitness<br />
Give a short report to your den or family on the dangers of drugs and alcohol.<br />
Practice finding your pulse and counting your heartbeats per minute. Determine your target heart rate.<br />
Practice five physical fitness skills regularly. Improve performance in each skill over a month. Skills could include pull-ups, curl-ups, the standing long jump, the 50-yard dash, and the softball throw.</p>
<p>Marbles<br />
Explain the rules of Ringer or another marble game to your leader or adult partner<br />
Spend at least 30 minutes practicing skills to play the game of Ringer or another marble game.<br />
Participate in a game of marbles</p>
<p>Kickball<br />
Explain the rules of kickball to your leader or adult partner.<br />
Spend 30 minutes practicing the skills of kickball (pitching, kicking, base running, catching, throwing). This may be over two different practice periods.<br />
Play a game of kickball.</p>
<p>Volleyball<br />
Explain the rules of volleyball to your leader or adult partner.<br />
Spend at least 30 minutes practicing skills to play the sport of volleyball.<br />
Participate in a volleyball game.</p>

<p>Here’s some detailed information about Pack 250’s Rain Gutter Regatta this Tuesday, March 20th at Grace Presbyterian. The rules were sent out in a previous email, but since this is our first year to use the Catamaran kit, please pay close attention to the rules listed below. We really don’t want any disappointed scouts that are unable to race!</p>
<p>We are also making available our adult size pack T-shirts for sale at this event. If you are interested see the information below.</p>
<p>This is only one of 2 individual competitive events the pack runs each year. Please prepare your son to demonstrate good sportsmanship …….win or lose.</p>

<p><strong>Registration</strong></p>
<p>· Boat registration is from 6:35 – 7:00PM</p>
<p>· If your boat is registered by 6:55PM you will have a chance to practice</p>
<p>· ALL boats must be registered by 7:00PM to be eligible for judging and racing</p>
<p>· The registration process will include:</p>
<p>o Signing in on Den roster sheet</p>
<p>o Confirming sail is on the mast and not touching the boat</p>
<p>o Placing a sticker with a number on the boat (for judging)</p>
<p>o Having picture of the Scout and boat taken</p>
<p><strong>Rules:</strong></p>
<p>· Use the sail in the kit. (it may be cut/trimmed)</p>
<p>· The sail MUST be placed on the mast through the two holes provided and CANNOT touch the deck of the boat.</p>
<p>· Do not extend the width of the hull and outriggers beyond what’s outlined in the instructions that come with the kit.</p>
<p>· Please be sure to seal the boat. Balsa-wood will soak-up water and the boat will sink.</p>
<p>· Materials not provided in the kit must be for decorative purposes only.</p>
<p>· Do not use motors (boats are Cub powered).</p>
<p><strong>T-Shirt Sales</strong></p>
<p>· Adult sizes of the Pack t-shirts given to Scouts will be available for sale during registration and judging</p>
<p>· T-shirts are $10 each and cash or checks made payable to BSA Pack 250 are accepted</p>
<p>· We will take orders for additional youth t-shirts($10 each), so please stop by the t-shirt table to place an order</p>
<p><strong>Order of Events for the Evening (Starting at 7:00PM)</strong></p>
<p>· Opening Ceremony</p>

<p>· Judging (Cub’s Choice and Best Design)</p>
<p>· Den Races (double elimination)</p>
<p>o We have 3 sets of gutters, so 3 Dens will race at a time</p>
<p>o Den Leaders and Den Parents will manage their Den races (3 race officials are needed; starter, finish judge, and recorder)</p>
<p>§ Starter – Will ensure boats are lined up and say Ready, Set, Blow to signal the start of the race</p>
<p>§ Finish Judge – Will determine which boat won the race</p>
<p>§ Recorder – Will fill in the bracket with the race result</p>
<p>o Dens will race in the following order: Bears, Tigers, Wolves, and Webelo I’s</p>
<p>o Top 3 in each Den qualify for the Pack race</p>
<p>o Den races are double elimination – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals awarded to the winners of each den</p>
<p>· Den medals, Cub’s Choice, and Best Design trophies are awarded</p>
<p>· Pack Races (single elimination)</p>

<p>The Raingutter Regatta is coming fast &#8211; it&#8217;s on Tuesday, March 20th at 7PM, with boat registration from 6:35 – 6:55PM.</p>
<p>Den Leaders have been provided boat kits, so if you don’t have your kit yet please ask your Den Leader.</p>
<p>Here are the Pack rules for this event…</p>
<ul>
<li> · Use the sail in the kit. (it may be cut/trimmed)</li>
<li>· The sail MUST be placed on the mast through the two holes provided and cannot touch the deck of the boat.</li>
<li>· Do not extend the width of the hull and outriggers beyond what’s outlined in the instructions that come with the kit.</li>
<li>· Please be sure to seal the boat. Balsa-wood will soak-up water and the boat will sink.</li>
<li>· Materials not provided in the kit must be for decorative purposes only.</li>
<li>· Do not use motors (boats are Cub powered).</li>
<li>· We will race first for DEN CHAMPIONS (double elimination) – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.</li>
<li>· We will race DEN winners for the PACK CHAMPIONSHIP (single elimination) &#8211; 1st, 2nd, &amp;3rd place trophies.</li>
<li>· We will also be awarding trophies for the following CRAFTMANSHIP categories: Cubs’ Choice and Best Design.</li>
</ul>
<p>This is one of only 2 individual competitive events the pack runs each year. Please prepare your son to demonstrate good sportsmanship …….win or lose.</p>
<p>Please arrive early in time for registration. Boats not registered by 6:55PM will not have the opportunity to practice.</p>
