Gold Rush Pack 250 2011
Good afternoon Pack 250!
Now that we have entered October it’s time to start preparing for Gold Rush. For those of you who are new to the Pack, Gold Rush is an annual family camping event for the District at Westminster Park in Rock Hill. Directions can be found at this link: http://www.bsa250.org/pack250/events/2009/gold-rush-westminster-park-directions/ This year’s event will take place October 21-23rd.
If you are camping on Friday night, you may arrive at the park starting at 4 PM. You will check in with the staff and they will direct you to the area for Pack 250. Please note that traffic patterns will be different this year than they have been in previous years. As you pull up to the camping area you may unload your supplies and will be asked to move your vehicle to the designated parking area before setting up your tent. There are more than 600 tents scheduled to be put up on Friday so the District is trying to make sure arrivals go smoothly. The area will be very busy and full of small children so please use caution and yield to all pedestrians. Continue reading

May 2011 Graduation Camp Update
Hello Pack 250,
Graduation Campout is approaching fast Friday May 13th – Sun May 15th @ Camp Bud Shiele located at 668 Boy Scout Rd, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. So far there are 90 people who plan to attend, but there are still 41 who haven’t replied. Please reply to the punchbowl invitation that you received so that we have an accurate count for food for Saturday’s lunch. See below for a list of those who have not yet responded. If you can’t find your invitation, feel free to respond to this email and I’ll update the Punchbowl invitation list manually so we have an accurate list. Camping: • We will be staying on the cub scout side of Camp Bud Shiele. Last year we camped on the boy scout side so for those that attended last year, please make note that we will be on the other side of camp which is a different entrance. We will put up signs for Pack 250 as a guide to the correct camp location and I’ll send more detail via email. Many of the campsites have wooden platforms where smaller tents can be pitched if desired, larger tents will be pitched on the ground as usual – remember to plan for wet areas so avoid the low ground. We will adhere to the leave no trace policy, which means taking out all trash we bring in, and campfires in approved areas only. I will be monitoring the campground for unattended fires so please ensure all fires are attended and put out completely before going to bed. Weather: Continue readingTega Cay Safety Day At Grace

Pack 250 March 22 2011 Raingutter Regatta Info
The Raingutter Regatta is coming fast – it’s on Tuesday, March 22nd at 7PM, with boat registration from 6:45 – 7:00PM.
Den Leaders were provided with boat kits at last week’s Den Leader Meeting, so everyone should be getting their kit at their next Den Meeting or your Den Leader will be making arrangements to pass them out.
This race does not last as long as the Pinewood Derby because it is single-elimination.
Here is a reminder about the Pack rules for this event…
- We’ll need one parent volunteer from each Den to help that night.
- Please be sure to seal the boat. Balsa-wood will soak-up water and the boat will sink.
- Materials not provided in the kit must be for decorative purposes only.
- SINGLE-HULL designs ONLY. Continue reading
