We are preparing for the biggest Cub Scout celebration of the year, the Blue & Gold banquet, to be held on Saturday, February, 25th. We will handle reservations via an Evite that you will receive in the next couple of days. Please be on the lookout for the invitation and we ask that you respond to the invitation in the following manner:

One response per scouting Family. Include in this one response the total number of adults (parents, grandparents, etc.) that will be attending with your family AND the total number of children (all cubscouts and sibilings) that will attend.

If you do not plan to attend the event please let us know by responding NO to the invitation.

We welcome your scouts extended family such as grandparents, aunts or uncles that would appreciate your scouts accomplishments and encourage your scout to continue in his rank achievements. The Blue & Gold banquet is a catered event provided by the pack at no charge to you or your invited guests. Consequently, we will need to have an accurate count of those attending to adequately prepare for the food and seating.

The Evite will contain more detail information about the event. There will also be a follow up communication closer to the event that will give you more information regarding the schedule and what to expect during the event.

If you purchased a CD from Cliff Nichols Photography at the Mother/Son dance, those will be available at the photography station during registration.

Volunteer Training is also tonight starting at 6:30 pm. We must have 2 volunteers from each den. Please coordinate volunteers through your den leaders.

CubMaster Pack 250

This winter we are venturing out for our first Pack Ski Trip.  We’ve selected the Appalachian Ski Mountain on February 17^th.  Our goal is to have fun and earn the Snow Ski and Board Sports Pin and Belt Loop.  The Resort is offering a special rate to all in our Scout Group.  This includes Scouts, Parents, Siblings and Leaders.  The cost is $31 for lift ticket, ski rental and a 1 hour lesson.  All members of our group under the age of 16 will be required to rent a helmet for $3 plus tax.  Adults are encourage to wear a helmet.  Also, the Resort has agreed to provide us with the “Shape Skis” to make learning easier and the day more enjoyable.

You can sign up for the Trip by emailing me (rjm71@comporium.net) with the name of each person in your family and the age of each minor in the family.  Registration for the ski trip will close on Jan 28^th (Pinewood Derby Day).  All monies will be due on the 28^th.  I will be at the Derby to answer any questions and collect monies for the trip.  You can mail or deliver the monies to my home (1314 Mallard Ridge Drive, Tega Cay)  Please make all checks out to BSA Pack 250.  The fees need to be submitted to the resort 14 days in advance to secure our group reservation.

There is some paperwork to be completed.  First, you’ll need to submit the BSA Scout Medical Form parts A & B.  Parts A&B can be filled out by the Parents.  Parts C & D are not required.  This is the same form required to be on file with the Pack for any outing.  The whole BSA Medical Form is attached to this email.  Second, we will need to fill out the rental agreement forms.  These forms will be distributed at the Resort.

Directions to the Resort, instructions and meeting times will be distributed at a later date.

An evite went out Mid December to Pack 250 Families. Please note the date which is earlier than we usually have the event due to a scheduling conflict at Grace.

The attire is semi-formal (full uniform for scouts). A complimentary spaghetti dinner will be served by the Dads.

Photographs will be taken by Cliff Nichols Photography (a professional photographer but also one of our Dads from Den 12). He will offer 3 – 4 professional shots along with some candids on a CD for $24.95. Please come prepared to pay the night of the event with Cash or Check (payable to Cliff Nichols). CD’s will be distributed at the following Pack meeting.

Music will again this year be provided by Adam Patyk from Troop 250.

Fabulous door prizes will be provided by many local area businesses and it is sure to be one of the highlights of the year!

We look forward to seeing all the Moms and Sons.

We are in need of volunteers at the Mother/Son Dance this Saturday. We need 4 people to help with setup starting at 3:00 pm, 4 people during the event (arrive by 5 pm) and 4 people to help with cleanup starting at 8:45 pm.

Please email your dens to let them know of the need. If we had one volunteer from most dens we would be covered. Email me back and let me know who is available and what time slot you can cover.

Below you will find several forms providing you with details for the trip.

Program Release Waiver One waiver per child attending (including siblings) must be filled out. These need to be completed and mailed to the address below by Friday, January 6.

Preparing for the Sleepover Experience provides you with information on what to bring/not to bring. Tents are NOT allowed.

Group Expectations is a list of general rules that our group needs to know and follow that night.

Sleepover Schedule gives you our itinerary for the evening. We will meet in the courtyard in front of the aquarium at 6:30 PM and will all go in as a group. Please find Gordon to check in upon your arrival to the courtyard. ** Remember that dinner that evening is NOT provided. Please plan to eat dinner prior to your arrival. A small snack will be provided at 9pm.

Pack 250 has the exciting opportunity to travel to Charleston, SC to sleep at the Aquarium and visit the Hunley! We will be meeting in the courtyard in front of the Aquarium at 6:30 PM and enter as a group on Friday, January 13th. (Fort Mill Schools are off that day) We will spend the evening experiencing dive shows, animal encounters, touch tanks, scavenger hunts, and much more before sleeping in front of any of the displays and tanks. Who is brave enough to sleep near the shark tank?!

Saturday morning we will wake up and have a small breakfast at 7 AM. Families will then have some free time to see a 4D theater show, tour the Aquarium some more if desired, or take in a little of Charleston before we all meet up as a group again at the Hunley (5.6 miles away; roughly a 15 minute drive) at 10:30 AM.

While at the Hunley we will have the opportunity to discover the wonder of a Civil War submarine and the mystery behind her sinking and disappearance. For more information on the history of The Hunley, I encourage you to check out http://hunley.org/index.asp. Our group should be finished at the Hunley around 12:30 PM and you will be free to enjoy the remainder of your 4 day weekend!

More information including what to bring/not to bring will be forthcoming. Please note that dinner on Friday is not provided so please plan to eat before we go into the Aquarium. A snack will be provided that night. Please inform me of any food allergies your child/children may have. A continental breakfast is provided Saturday morning.

This will be a very fun and exciting trip and family members of all ages are welcome to attend!

Cost: $47 per person for the Aquarium and Hunley ($40 for children under 5)

$50 Per person for the Aquarium, Hunley, and 4D Theater show “Planet Earth: Shallow Seas” shown Saturday morning ($43 for children under 5)
