Webelos Summer Camp Date Change 2011
Pack 250 Leaders,
This email contains important updated information regarding Webelos and Cub Scout Summer Camp 2011.
After our last meeting, I learned that the dates for Webelos Resident Camp have changed. The correct dates are:
Webelos Resident Camp: Session 1 July 17-20; Session 2 July 20-23
Additionally, our council has now decided to offer a Resident Camp experience for Cub Scouts too. Just like Webelos Resident Camp, this is an overnight parent/child experience for 3 nights at our council’s Scout Camp in the mountains. There will be many opportunities for the attendees to earn belt loops, as well as having a memorable experience. It’s the first year this is being offered, so I can’t comment on how it will work for the boys, but based on prior experience with Webelos Resident Camp, I would encourage you to promote this option within your den.
Dates for the new Cub Scout Camp are:
Cub Resident Camp Session: July 24-27
I was also asked about Den Chiefs. They are encouraged to attend Camp with their Dens, but cannot serve as the “adult partner” for any of the cubs or webelos.
Full information on both camps can be found in the 2011 Leader Guide at:
http://www.bsa250.org/pack250/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/2011-Webelos-Camp-leader-guide.pdf
Our Pack typically reserves a double campsite for both sessions of Webelos Camp based on prior attendance.
For Tiger and Wolf Dens, can you please gauge interest from your Dens in the Cub Scout Resident Camp session so that we have some idea of potential attendance?
Thanks all – I realize that the change in the traditional dates may cause a challenge for some of you Webelos parents, but the new Cub Scout Resident program will be a great opportunity for the current Tigers and Bears to get exposure to summer overnight camping.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Ken Ramaley
